Harry, a Circle Visitor

The Power of Prayer 9th February 1984
Peace be unto you in this house. I was named Harry and died many years ago on the Somme, during the First World War.
Being despatched across the Bridge of Death so speedily left my spirit in shock, unable at first to adjust and accept that I had passed from the physical world. With me were many other service men, some my friends, and others my recent enemies. Almost all of these souls found acceptance of their new condition difficult.
You may be aware that when a Soul first reaches the Other Side, there is a time of rest and adjustment before spirits can progress, also for enough strength to be gained after the stresses of life on Earth. Many of us found it difficult when we glimpsed those we had left behind, to understand why they were less concerned with our heroic actions in battles, than the little well-remembered habits and actions of our time on Earth. Not so much the hero who stormed the trenches, more the well-loved father, brother or son.
Some spirits were unable to settle in Spirit and suffered much. There is no Hell, you know, except what we make for ourselves. These poor souls tried to resume their links to Earth and to make their friends aware of them. Restless and unruly, they were unable to accept what had happened and their unhappiness brewed a dark power. You have heard of 'ghosts' and 'things that go bump in the night'. Unhappy souls.
Circles for Spiritual Development on Earth sometimes attract dark souls. To those of you training to be mediums, channels for Spirit, I say be sure to learn the way to open and close your spiritual doors to your body, in the Love and protection of God. As you become aware of your guides and helpers, ask one of them to act as your doorkeeper. Above all, in an ordinary development circle do not be tempted to undertake the 'rescue' of unquiet spirits. This is a difficult and sometimes dangerous task, requiring experienced mediums and a close-knit circle to back them up. Your link to Spirit should be pure and this is important to you and to us.
Since realising the difficulties of souls jettisoned into spirit, my soul has chosen to work in that sphere, with some good results. Let your prayers and thoughts rise to us, with Love, to help them and us - so much is wrought by prayer, and we offer thanks for your Love to use.
Guard well your channel to Spirit, ensure a worthy control of all your linkings. With your prayers and Love, we shall continue our work.
